Hudební minulost: V jedenácti letech začal hrát na bicí, ale protože neměl kde cvičit, trénoval mlácením do gauče či čehokoliv v dosahu. Tou dobou válel se skupinou „Highway“. V patnácti se dostal do opravdové skupiny, se kterou měli místo na trénování, kde se scházeli několikrát do týdne. Zde se také potkal s Emppuem, se kterým tuto skupinu opustil a společně hráli každodenně. Zpočátku finský rock, ale později se ponořili do více tvrdší hudby jako Stratovarius, Helloween a Yngwie Malmsteena. V sedmnácti dostal od Tuomase a Emppua nabídku, která se neodmítá, zapojit se do projektu s názvem Nightwish.



Hudební idoly: Za mlada, kdy se ještě co se hudební stránky týkalo vyvíjel ho nejvíce ovlivnili Mike Portnoy z Dream Theater a Jörg Michael ze Stratovarius. V současnosti již jiné bubeníky tolik nesleduje, přesto když se objeví výtečný bubeník, co dokáže z hraní udělat pěknou podívanou, je to zábavné. Je potřeba např;. zmínit Mikkey Dee a Tommy Lee.
